Re: Mechanical to electronic speedo

Sorry for the late reply (havn't logged on for a while) the part you are after is a VDO 412.009. Goes on the end of a conventional VW (or other) speedo cable and puts out 5 pulses per wheel rev.

Re: Canbus Manxster Project

Yes, I had to raise the height for the headspace according to my Engineer.

Got a short video of it now :)

Re: Canbus Manxster Project

Ooops, been a while since I posted an update. Been flat out mad with work and trying to finish the car to get it to Valla I had no time to muck around on the forums. I ended up getting the engineers certificate the Tuesday of the Valla week, Blue slip and rego sorted on Wednesday and then took it to...

Re: Mismatched Gauge/Sender Solutions

I use the speedohealer for the speedo in the sharbuilt and even my daily drive wrx. I was sick of the speedo in the wrx reading 10% over the actual speed, so installed the SH unit to get it reading correctly. They are tiny and work flawlessly.

Re: Canbus Manxster Project

Been a bit slack with the updates of late, had a few things come up with work and also putting in an inground pool and landscaping the backyard has not helped my free time. Anyway after a month of not doing anything to the manxster I am back into it. Got the wiring mostly all done, and as of the oth...

Re: Low compression Subi motor

Sticky Idle valve maybe? A can of subaru upper engine cleaner usually improves the idle smoothness on mine.

Re: Canbus Manxster Project

Thanks guys. Yeah I have decided I will modify the cage slightly at the back to give more headroom. It shouldn't be too hard, hopefully doesn't detract from the sleek look. My engineer told me during my first buggy build that he doesn''t actually measure the headspace. He recons he is the perfect mo...

Re: Canbus Manxster Project

Thanks guys. Unfortunately I have run into a bit of a brick wall this week and not sure what to do. I have been talking to my engineer about the rear seat. He won't comply it as an adult seat because of the rear rollbar being inside the headspace (even without the rear seat cushion). I want to get i...

Re: Canbus Manxster Project

Sorry I have been a bit slack updating my posts. I have done a fair bit on the buggy. Chassis and floors are all done and painted in POR15. Pedals and dash is pretty much done. I custom 6speed cable shift box to allow the cables to go through the tunnel in a rearward direction is installed into the ...

Re: Subaru steering column - which one?

Is gen5 liberty power assist on column or in rack?

I got a gen3 liberty column here and some 2008-2013 to 2013 impreza ones with wiring, they all seem to be the same length, 08+ is height and reach adjustable :)

Re: Canbus Manxster Project

Thanks guys for the feedback. Thought I might as well aim at providing a weekly update, so here it is. I probably haven't got that much done in the last week as hoped, was a bit busy with work commitments, however still got a bit done. I managed to make up a support frame for the top hang subie peda...

Canbus Manxster Project

Hey Guys, Just thought I'd post some details and progress photos of my new buggy build. The main aim of the project is to build a new buggy with the latest Subaru Canbus engine and where practical, use as many parts from the doner Subaru as possible instead of having to buying new components. The do...

Re: So what does this means for those building a Buggy ?

Love that video, and can so relate to it. I remember studying the yet to be released 3G technology at Uni and how it was going to revolutionise the mobile industry, and look what happened. Also we demonstrated in a Lab that the maximum speed you could run a computer clock on a typical motherboard wa...
