Since we no longer have the Baja Bus, we need something for the family got go camping in. So the plan is to have the Manx and this Baja to go away in. With the trailer for the camping gear we should be able to take all the stuff we used to fit into the Baja Bus.

I got the Baja as a rolling concern, but have decided on a full ground up rebuild because that way I can know everythings safe for our daughter to drive it when she gets her learner's next year.

That way I also get to add all the cool stuff I've collected......

I pulled out the pedal assembly and found the clutch hook looked like this....

Pretty dodgy repair, so I set about fixing it properly, here's a cardboard template of how the hook should look

And in metal

The rear brakes were Type3, but in need of fixing, so I decided to convert to rear disc brakes from a VN Commodore

Since I needed to take the body off the floorpan to fit the Rollcage & Lift Kit, I decided I may as well convert the swingaxle floorpan to IRS, but then Brad told me he had an IRS chassis buried out in his back yard.

So I dragged it home and set about cleaning it up and painting it.
Its a superbug pan that has had a balljoint frame head welded on.

Now that I have IRS and a lift kit, I can install a Kombi Gearbox and my Type4 2L engine... I'll also be converting to a hydraulic clutch using factory T3 bits

Does the Baja have rego already? Or are you planning to re-register it?

No rego yet, so I'll need to get everything Blueplated when I'm done.

Is this baja still around nuts? Or is this the one you've just finished building and took to Fraser?

Nah, this one ended up out Ipswich way a while back. The blue one we took to Fraser is the one 68Baja used to own
