Just make sure you have a couple of good tow points on the front, I'm sure people will be cueing up to tow you

There will be no need for tow points

Build has slowed to a crawl as I start to do the little things that need to be done correctly now mock up is over.

Tonight I built my front end, used a new german ball joint beam, added some adjusters, pulled the old ond down and cleaned and inspected all the leaves. Once I was happy I cleaned everything up and started the re-assembly.

New German Ball Joints were fitted to the front arms. Took almost 50Tonne to get the old ones out.

Image

Once they were all pushed in I assembled the front beam. Arms and spindles are VW Type 181 or thing as it is often called. This gives me 3" of fully legal factory lift as well as stronger ball joints and thicker arms. They are basically a lifted heavy duty version of stock BJ arms and spindles.

Image

One issue using the VW 181 front is that is was only every drum brake. Lucky for me Meyers Manx Australia happened to have some 181 Disc Calliper mounts which allow me to use stock BJ Beetle callipers and rotors.

Image

These are held in place by some 10.9 grade bolts. It is importnat to make sure that anything around the brakes are grade 10.9 not 8.8 or less as some people often use.

So now I have the front togeather, new TRW steering box fitted, all bolted, greased and ready for action.

Well as my time runs out and my list gets longer I have sorted on of the biggest issues I have been having with my Manxter ...

Yes thats correct for a guy with a Manxter spread acrosee 3 bays in his shed with not a complete part in site my biggest issue and point of concern was that I had a Shimmering Sands Metal Flake Body and I really didn't like the colour of it ... I guess you could say it wasn't my thing.

For those of you who have known me a while you will no doubt guess exactly what I did next .... yeah I ordered a new body in a more "Brad" colour.

Anyway I placed the order, got the call and went for a drive. I now have a grin from ear to ear and some nice fresh fibreglass to cut up

So who wants to guess what colourmy new Manxter 2+2 is ?

I just saw the comment on a camo buggy and thought i would leave a post. A mate of mine does hydrographic imaging and thought i would give him a plug. I will post some pics of my garage doors. And if anyone is interested P.M me. Long and short of it he can do some cool stuff including carbon fibre, wood grain, marble. crocidile skin, checker plate, brushed aluminium the list is endless.
