 Yeah well all will become evident soon enough, I am sure the results of the new project will show why the Iguana has taken a back seat for a little while.

Besides the New Project is only going to make the Iguana a better buggy anyway

7067 thread views
25 people who said they are watching to see the great Iguana build,
flash floods, spider web ponds, double engines and weird ladder jig set ups.

= ???

Cant wait for this new project !

There will be a build thread, don't worry about that. The delay will be less than 6 weeks, so in relation to most builders it isn't really a delay.

Ok anyway back to postin .... once the rear engine mounts where it Dave roughed out the cage lines so I could play with seating position etc. It seems I have ended up much lower than before which is a good thing.

When I measured Ben's last week his main hoop sits 132mm higher than mine and my buggy is 200mm wider than his.. fat and wide.

Once I got it home I leveled it up on the stands and began planning the next move .......

That is looking sleek.

Dave has done great work getting that front hoop to fit with the MX5 windscreen surround.

yeah the front hoop was a bit tricky, being both rolled and bent added a new dimension to what he had to do. Was worth it in the end ...

With Fraser Island 2011 just around the corner and strict directions from the Boss that we are not going in a 4WD again next year I have had to pull the stops out and get crankin.

1st up now I have the front half of the cage roughed in ( Thanks Dave) I need to work out my rear set position and suspenion to ensure it all works. By widening the body 8" and keeping the same rear arms the shocks are going to come inside the car a bit further than before, but still further out than stock ( if that makes sense).

So the lower mount was tacked in place and the angle set. Once in place I then starting thinking about the rear seat and how to get it as low as possible with as much room as possible.

With the new rear tyres on and the suspenion fully compressed my timber seat was sat in place so that I could get a feel for where it would be.

Re: Brad's Iguana - Rear Coilovers n Seat

Postby Brad » Mon Oct 25, 2010 3:30 pm

Once I had sort of worked out where the shocks were going to go it was time to put the body back on and see how much needed to be removed.

With the rear wheel in place I put the body side on to have a look. Also had to tack the rear bar in place to get a feel for height

Once the body was on I tried my original plan which was to use the back seat from an Alpha Romeo as it was small, well shaped and covered in leather. BUT it was now way to high and I was going to need something a lot slicker.

I checked inside for clearance
