Sorry officer, I didn't see you behind me..the mirrors may have been a bit obstructed...

Was actually pretty happy with ol' chubby, had all intentions to be sympathetic on the box etc, but you can guess how long that idea lasted  , but everything held up really well, drove it home with everything still working, the steering wheel was still straight & all, might have sorted most of the durability issues,..... or maybe am just not driving it hard enough

Was a good bit of fun! knew there was not much hope of making it through as there was no bottom to it, looked as though this is where all the big boys get pulled up.... Was bugger all evidence of tracks after that, was a bit frustrating as if had of made it through, the way things were performing chubby wouldn't have had any issue at all with the rest. Recon will have a crack at the next mud run the 4x4 clubs have further south in winter as was pretty happy with it!
Would hate to think what would happen if the chains came adrift though, not sure if it's noticeable in the pic, but can kind of see how they expand with the centrifugal force....

Bit of a clogging issue with the sump guard too.. :? ...So much for the exhaust heat wrapping... Might have to re-consider the routing of things....

Ok,.... ... have an idea for something else to maybe have a go at with ol' chubby... :D

Like the concept of the zero swing mowers with the castor wheels on the front & steered by the levers controlling drive to the rear wheels.....
P1090158.jpg
... well,... the young bloke (8 yr old) is currently kicking my arse on the newly acquired odyssey....
P1080397.jpg
...with the steering lock to lock on the odyssey of half a turn each way, ol' chubby has no hope of keepin up in the tight stuff.... but thinkin.... get chubby's front wheels up on castors & drive it with the cutting brakes... hmmmm... ... probably end up running over him though... :?.... Bring it!...

.... the ground was off camber where bolted the castors up, let the handbrake off & the front spun around, ended up landing in the bushes  ..... the ol' mate chubby made me laugh till my guts hurt (once again) .. .... figured need a flat open flat paddock for the next trial run

When first saw the converted mokes, kind of got a bit pissed, as thought the classics had been trashed to make something environmentally acceptable... but on looking closer, realised they were a new flop out of the original moke styling, wouldn't mind one of these at home either... :)

Anyway, back to the home front, not much new to report, wont bother with the standard run pics... Thought might check & lube the brake components, struggled a bit with the rear callipers, has been wearing the inside pad a bit...
DSCF0015.jpg

Loosened things up & hopefully will wear a bit more even, not long to a pad replacement though... Struggled with getting the piston to push back in though, originally thought they were seized, but soon realised (with a bit of help from youtube    ) that the piston needs to be rotated to release the handbrake adjustment... not used to callipers on the rear
DSCF0021.jpg

Also saw the effort of fitting a bash plate was well worth while... very surprised at the depth of the ding, the ally plate is high grade stuff they build the truck tipper trays from... scary thing is I cant pinpoint the actual moment it happened... :?

Hope you all are getting out & about & using them a bit, Buggy on, Pud

Been driving mine a bit matey. Got some new led inserts and light bar to fit as well as some roof racks. Had to replace a cam seal the other day. Only bit of maintenance it has needed! Awesome mod the suby swap was! :D
It will all be ok in the end.. if is not ok its not the end!
