seats that fit SWB buggies

Postby shaihulud » Sun Oct 01, 2017 10:04 pm

One of the problems with fitting non-VW seats to a short wheel base buggy is that the floor is narrow at the back. Many seats from other cars will have their runners too wide apart to be fitted as close to the floor as is possible.

The runners need to be no more than about 480 mm or about 19 inches apart at the outside of the runners.

SAAS and Beard seats (where will you get Beards in Oz?) will fit as their runners are fitted as you do them for yourself.

Over the years I have found that the following seats will fit easily.

Datsun 240Z, 260Z, 280Z,
Suzuki Swift about 2004,
Fiat 124,
Land Rover Discovery, some models.
Toyota Tercel.

I am sure that there are many more seats that will suit. What have you fitted to your buggy or know of in other buggies?

If you can add to this list, please do so as we all need to know what seats to get when building buggies.

Hi there,
yeah I just got some sent from Japan.

You need MX5 NA (early series) also called the Miata in the US I think.

I found a crowd in Brisbane called JDM Garage who import a couple of containers a year of stuff.

Private message me and I'll send you their email address. (avoids spam bots)
