Short torsion bars & matching spring plates

Postby ancientbugger » Sun Apr 07, 2013 12:48 pm

My son has bought some OTT mudtyres which were supposed to be 31" s but in fact just touch the elongated torsion bar housing so as it says we're after shorter torsion bars and the matching spring plates, we have the 'flat' covers.

Hi Barry,

What you need is swing axle spring plates which are cut down to match IRS holes, if you have an IRS rear end.

If you contact Paul at SteelArt Creations in Brendale he should have the fixture for making them and can punch a set out for you. If you have a swing axle rear end then you just need some earlies and you can get them from Pete at Custom Vee Dub in Stafford as he has a few of them upstairs.

Well we have the spring plates sorted but are finding that the short (550mm) torsion bars are a bit light on the ground!! Surely someone has a couple sitting around. :?

Is it swingaxle bars you're chasing? the ones that don't protrude at all through the springplate?

If so I can bring you down a pair. I have a few sets lying around. I'll be down in Brisbane next weekend from the 25th-28th. And then the following weekend aswell from 3rd-5th.
Could drop them off on the way down or the way back. Let me know if you can't find them anywhere else.
